if we loos our home in a foreclosure, and it goes to auction, and they do not get the amount owed on the house through the auction, are we liable to pay the difference? or is it settled?

My father’s home is in foreclosure and it probably foreclose within a week. I would like to know how I can attain the home and recieve a home loan. I do not have anything for the down payment. I’m 20 years old and have no credit history though I have friends who would be living with me in this home with remarkable credit. I make too much money for any assistant programs by $30,000, yet I cannot get a mortgage because of the foreclosure, and also cannot get an apartment because of my now poor credit due to the foreclosure.
